Radeon Mobility M6 LY gets BadAlloc on HD Video

When using the Radeon Mobility M6 LY on a Thinkpad X24 on Ubuntu 9.04, playing HD video with vlc and the XV driver gives "BadAlloc (Insufficient resources for Operation). However, the same file will play correctly on the same hardware running vlc on Windows XP.

SD video runs ok,

On a different laptop with an M7 chip, the same file plays correctly on the same Ubuntu 9.04/vlc using the same Radeon driver.
