Bug Description
Capturing the pointer before suspending makes GNOME unusable after resume.
Steps to reproduce (ubuntu 9.04 with gnome and latest updates):
1. Add a Pointer Capture applet to the panel
2. Capture the pointer
3. Suspend to RAM with the pointer captured
4. Resume from suspend
5. Uncapture the pointer
6. Results:
- Right-click menus and normal menus don't work anymore, at least not in gtk apps (firefox menus work)
- Can't type anything into text boxes and text areas (tried gnome-terminal, firefox, gedit)
- Ctrl-Alt-Backspace solves the problem
This is probably a security vulnerability as well: because the pointer is already locked, gnome does not ask for any password when resuming.
