Bug Description

When deciding if I want to upgrade from one version to another, I need to see a list of the new features in a version. That list is *not* in the release notes (like it is in almost all other software); the release notes only list problems. There should be an easy-to-find list of new features.

Hello Paul,

It's already there and linked from the release announcement.
( https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-announce/2009-April/000122.html ) :

""" Find out what's new in this release with a graphical overview:
  http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/904overview """

You may want to subscribe to the Ubuntu announcements mailing list : https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-announce

It is linked from the release announcement, yes; it is not "there", no. The *only* way to find that file that I can see is to subscribe to the ubuntu-announce list; the overview is not linked anywhere else. In particular, it is not even linked from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes, which is the parent page for the overviews.

Please consider putting links on http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes for the overviews, not just the release notes. It seems a tad rude to have marked this bug as "invalid" if the only way to find the release notes is to be subscribed to a mailing list, not by traversing the otherwise-very-useful Ubuntu site.

I'm sorry for this.
Let's see if the website team can do anything to link more efficiently to the overview page.

B, thoughts on this? Do we want to highlight "what's better" or continue focusing on "what's great?"

affects: ubuntu-website → ubuntu-website-content

The way I phrased that comment makes it sound like we should stick with what we have, but I can see use cases (press, long time users, etc) who might like to know "what's better."

Gerry Carr - what's your take on this?
