Bug Description
Before upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty, I set LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/profile as follow
export LD_LIBRARY_
And it worked fine on Intrepid. After upgrading to Jaunty, this setting takes no effect any more. If I open a terminal and type in
echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
it will show a blank path. But if I add the following statement to /etc/profile
export TEST_PATH=some_path
then the TEST_PATH variable will be correctly set. So it seems that the LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting in /etc/profile is in fact read and executed by the system, but the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable is unset somewhere else later. Besides, I also tried to add the LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting directly into /etc/gdm/Xsession. And after logging in, I still got a blank value of LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Hi microbug, PATH=some_ path' into the file /etc/bash.bashrc file and then checking whether still you get a blank for '$LD_LIBRARY_PATH' or not?
Can you try putting this line 'export LD_LIBRARY_
Seems to be a bash related issue. Hence marking it as 'bash'...
