This is a pretty good flash card program. It seems to be the closest thing to anki that's built for gnome. I think it would be a useful package to add.

I second that, the GUI looks more polish than the Gnome counterpart Granule. I haven't compared the functions/usability though.

The Debian mentor packages has some issues building on Ubuntu:
It's installing gconf/schemas/ into /usr/etc which is not the expected location, it should be /usr/share .
debian/rules is long, it is much easier to read with a simple 3 lines default debhelper 7 rules:

%:
 dh $@

The Debian mentors package is for Debian. Use the REVU package for Ubuntu.

I don't know how to fix the problems. If your getdeb-package is more advanced (I am a beginner in packaging) you could upload your package to Debian mentors instead.
