jaunty kubuntu desktop freezes randomly

Bug #366738 reported by Scott Lewin on 2009-04-25
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone

Bug Description

I do not have much information as the entire system froze up and I was forced to do a hard reset by turning off the power on the computer. This is not completely repeatable as I have right clicked on the network information widget without the computer crashing, but the computer haves crashed about 5 times in the last 2 days doing similar task.

I'm using Kubuntu Jaunty final on a Inspiron 1525.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information.

Next time this happens, can you switch to a text console by hitting
CTRL + ALT + F1, login there, and then run
sudo apport-collect -l linux 366738

If you know how you can kill the Xserver and restart at the
login screen w/o powering off the machine
