ctrl makes tabs close

Binary package hint: firefox

Every time i press the button ctrl with firefox 3.0.9 some of my open tabs gets automatically closed.

Many bad Firefox behaviors are in fact caused by one of the many third-party 'themes', 'extensions' and 'plugins'. These will go away with a new profile - that is, when Firefox is restored to default settings and without any extensions and themes. You do not need to delete your old profile to test.
Could you please try with a new profile and let us know the results?

i noticed that the behaviour i described affects also other things like emesene's chat windows and amule, and the times i get that behaviour it is caused by snes9express after i play with it for some time

Do you have compiz or another theme modifier installed?

i completely removed compiz (i'm under jaunty) and this issue seems to be disappeared

Since this bug appears to happen with and without compiz I'm changing the package assignment. Since it also seems to happen with several different applications that don't even use the same toolkit I'm not sure what package to assign though.

a way to reproduce that (hoping it isn't only a problem of mine) is playing with something with snes9express, after a while pressing shift to see a text message for turbo togglin on and off rapidly, closing that and watching the behaviour of other apps. this behaviour could be described as pressing continuosly the down arrow and in firefox pressing the control button makes some random tabs close. a way to restore to the normal behaviour is logging out and then logging in
