Bug Description

Touchpad doesn't work at all in jaunty, only the buttons are ok. In intrepid it was all ok.

I think my touchpad is a synaptic model, but I'm not sure.

You can find it out by typing "cat /proc/bus/input/devices | grep -B 5 mouse", if it's a Synaptic or else.

Result:

N: Name="ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input10
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse3 event10

My Xorg.conf lacks any "input device" section.

The external mouse works perfectly.

I just 2min ago solved the problem:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfree86-driver-synaptics/+bug/355161

Now it works as a generic mouse:

I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0005 Version=0000
N: Name="ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input10
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse3 event10

After the upgrade to karmic it's all ok with the touchpad.

Sometimes during the boot I have the following:

"touchpad refuse to switch to absolute mode"

but it works well.
