Bug Description

Hi, it's honour to me to contact with anyone of you :)
I have a problem. The same in 8.10 as in 9.04.
My PC configuration - an old one - PII@400 Mhz, AGP Nvidia FX 5500 128 MB, RAM 512 MB, HDD - 6.4 GB and 40.0 GB. I used Wubi to install Jaunty 9.04 and it started nice with my default resolution 1440x900 on my Hyundai X91W. But after i tried to have the nice Compiz effects i lost this resolution and fall in low-graphics mode. This happened after i tried Restricted drivers from Hardware Drivers menu. After that i removed these Restricted drivers and used text mode in EnvyNG to remove any previous Nvidia drivers and put the Recomended ones. But the result is the same - i fall in low-graphics mode every time, and now even if i remove every Nvidia drivers i can't get the 1440x900.

I will appreciate any help, thanks.

PS: i attach an archive with .log files

I'm also getting this bug with a GeForce 9600M GT (rev a1). Tried the latest drivers from the PPA repository too (180.53-0ubuntu2).

If you are still having this issue, then please try to delete the xorg.conf, it seams that it has settings for the propritery Nvidia drivers. So if you are not using thows then you should remove it. If you have updated to Ubuntu 9.10 or 10.04 the xorg.conf is no longer needed.
