Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Using a freshly installed and updated Kubuntu Jaunty, the Media hotkeys (XF86AudioNext, XF86AudioPrev, XF86AudioPlay, XF86AudioStop) don't work.
They are NOT asssigned per default as global hotkeys.

In Gnome/Rhythmbox they work perfectly.
Manually Assigning them works as well - but shouldn't that be a default in the final release?

There is also a problem with VolumeUp/Down hotkeys. They change PCM volume in kmixer, but this does not affect amarok2 in anyway.

Hotkeys VolUp/Down work in experimental 2.0.90 version, but not next/prev/prev/play/stop.

This is not an Amarok problem, the shortcut assignment is handled by KDE

Yes, so could anyone select the right package for this bug - I don't know that - "hotkeys"?

The problem is that the default configuration of KDE shipped with (K)Ubuntu uses Meta+C instead of "Media Play" (XF86AudioPlay).

Once the keyboard bindings are set to the correct value, Amarok works again, even in a GNOME environment.

It makes more sense for KDE to switch to the standard X11 media keys rather than inventing its own conventions like Meta+C for "Play".

And it is not a problem in Amarok. Amarok works fine once the _global_ keybindings are changed in systemsettings.

Applications control their own global shortcuts. This really would have to be fixed at the application level in this case.
