For power button events to be picked up the acpid package has to be installed and also enabled (so /usr/sbin/acpid should has to be started too).

Can you indicate whether /usr/sbin/acpid is running on your server?

ls: /usr/sbin/acpid: No such file or directory
juser@yate1:~/yate$ sudo find / -name acpid
(nothing)

I suppose a server shouldn't be turned off? ;)

Hmm you might want to appeal to the powers that be to include this. I don't know which meta package controls server installations though (perhaps ubuntu-standard?)

Do you still have the same issue with the latest Edgy beta release? Please let us know, thanks.

juser@yate2:~$ ls /usr/sbin/acpid
ls: /usr/sbin/acpid: No such file or directory
juser@yate2:~$ pgrep acpid

but... I can see that acpid isn't 'needed' for what u-server should give you. so to me this bug can be rejected.

Pushing back to unconfirmed (although Carl didn't explictly mention Edgy or Feisty in the feedback)

given noone has sugested that u-s should include this feature, I don't think it should either. u-s is a platform for building a functioning machine. if you want this, you need to install it.
