Bug Description

Installation of Kubuntu 9.04 BETA AMD64 Desktop:

Fails when scanning the disks. I tried manually with GParted to create the partitions before the install. The result was the same as without this operation, fail...

Hardware:
Intel MB with Intel C2D
HD1: Seagate 7200.12 500GB
HD2: Seagate 7200.12 500GB
HD3: Seagate 7200.10 320GB
HD4: Seagate 7200.10 320GB
All with SATA and AHCI enabled.

I tried the installation so that all the drives have NTFS partitions. And HD1 has Windows Vista 64-bit installed. HD2 had an empty space (which would be the place I want Kubuntu to install) as illustrated:

HD2: [----------1 0 0 GT of unallocated space --------- | ALLOCATED SPACE (NTFS) ]

Yes I did check it, it was ok. And I tried the installation many times, even so that I did a dist-upgrade (of course the newer kernel didn't want to install, but other updates installed ok) on the desktop and tried installing. Nothing worked :(

I have had problems in the past with AHCI in a laptop. I know that this does not solve bug, but... Have you tried install with AHCI disabled?

I tried just now, I get the same error when the drives are configured as IDE...

This is no April fools, I tried the installation today so that before the installation I did a "apt-get dist-upgrade". As a result the installation now worked. And the new partitioning system on the installation looks very good! Congrats!
