Bug Description

When I delete items anywhere (using 9.04 Alpha 6) they do not appear in the trash, but are not deleted. I need to navigate to /home/<username>/.local/share/Trash/files in order to view the "deleted" items and to permanently delete them. This is on the Live CD that I put on a flash drive with Unetbootin as well as when I installed it to my HDD using that flash drive.

I'm having the exact same issue on 9.04 i386 (32 bit) Release Candidate (Alternate), installed fresh.

I reinstalled for other reasons and this time chose not to encrypt the home directory. The previous install was the first time I had tried that option, and I also had the trash bin issue. Could this be connected?

I forgot to make it clear that the trash bin issue is not happening on this latest install, sans encrypted home directory. I wish launchpad allowed a brief edit period for entries.

David (and anyone else who's reading this), I think it's worth noting that at some point, between the time I originally posted this issue and before the beta came out, I downloaded an update that corrected this. I can't tell you which one, though, since I always just download all available updates.

This happens to me on a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit. Any file or folder I delete do not appear on the Trash applet.

By the way, I have the root filesystem on a different partition than my home directory. The root filesystem (/) is on sda3 and my home directory (/home) is on sda5. Both are ext4 partitions.

I can confirm this bug on a fresh Jaunty install (32-bit). I'm using ext4.
When i delete a file it doesnt ask for confirmation.

I also see this bug on Jaunty, AMD x64. The files are in .local/share/Trash/files but the GUI trash folder is empty; also, there's no confirmation on delete.

Hm. Rebooted because of other GUI artefacts (missing menu items) and now the trashcan seems to be working again. I hadn't installed any updates, but still.
