i guess your decision gets overriden by the networkmanager integration. Try to turn that off by setting toolkit.networkmanager.disable to true in about:config.

So yes, its probably a problem of the profile wizard; its not really obvious what it should do though. Arguably it could probably be just removed as firefox remembers the last state anyway if you don't use networkmanager maybe verify that.

maybe this is won't fix for the time being as upstream has disabled networkmanager in ffox 3.1 and trunk for now. Seems we won't get it enabled that soon, so they probably won't remove that working option, just because its broken when we use something not enabled by default.

I find this feature useful when I have a tab open that is causing firefox to crash repeatedly. In that situation I'd choose to work offline and close that tab, then work online again. Is there a way for the checkbox to disable firefox's internet access only?

Unassigning and ct-rev'ing, this isn't high-priority enough to be on the "high urgency" monitor. It remains a target of opportunity, of course. Alex, if you want to work on this, please feel free to assign to you.
