This is a regression; everything worked fine until the last few days, with gtk-window-decorator as default although I have compiz installed.
I'm running GNOME alongside KDE4 on Jaunty up-to-date as of today, with the nVidia driver.
When I login to GNOME, there are no window decorations drawn. To get them back, one of two things works:
(1) System > Prefs > Appearance > Visual Effects. Setting them to Extra launches Compiz as expected. This setting does not appear to persist, though.
(2) Running "compiz" in a terminal. I can switch back to gwd by running "gtk-window-decorator --replace," but running gwd first without compiz does not work.
I've reported this bug in GSD because there is no package for gwd? |

EDITED: I got mixed up with WM and window decorator. gtk-window-decorator -> metacity. |
