Bug Description

Binary package hint: console-setup

The console and keyboard can be setup by udev when the actual tty devices are created, rather than in an init script.

This is a maybe for jaunty.

Does this 'maybe' include any uncertainty regarding the technical details / feasibility, or just a question of whether there's time to get it done?

We reviewed the technical details in Berlin, other than the "under
usplash" problem (which is already solved with the initramfs script).

It's simply a matter of time, priority and the fact that we'd throw it
all out for karmic because of KMS.

We decided to postpone this to karmic and figure out what to do about KMS at the same time
