Bug Description

I would like to see the XFCE goodies plugin "Modem Lights" available. http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-modemlights-plugin

I have compiled a deb for Xubuntu 8.10 but know that the deb file would need to be updated with each release. The reason this applet is important is because it is a simple and convenient applet for those of us that need to rely on dialup internet connections.

I have tried other dialers such as gnome-ppp and kppp but have found them to be a bit complicated to use especially for novice users. The "Modem Lights" plugin relies on the Pon/Poff interface which is very reliable. Unfortunately at present I must download all of the required development files in order to compile the "Modem Lights" plugin from source.

Being able to install this program through Ubuntu would be so much easier!
