Are you using compiz or any desktop effects? What type of videocard and drivers do you have?

yes the test has been conducted with compiz but look at the snapshot attached there is a problem with the window supposed to show the molecule.

I will try without compiz and report.

now regarding removing compiz effects that are on my desktop (I have desktop mapped on a cylinder when using Ctrl Alt along with moving mouse pointer on desktop) I wish I knew how this is supposed to be managed with KDE 4.2 because I am not sure this feature has been entirely integrated in KDE settings as on my system I still have an app called "Compiz Desktop Effects".

ok with KDE-4.2.00 on Intrepid 64 bits without compiz kalzium works fine ; definitely all bugs that I have filed (the molecular window not displaying the selected molecule but also the display problem on top of the window) are linked to compiz interraction ; I wiil therefore file a bug for compiz.

Then it is likely an issue with the 3D drivers for your videocard. What type of video card do you have?

Note that despite the Kalzium molecule editor window showing only a black window, stand-alone Avogadro works fine.

Bom dia, o editor molecular do kalzium não mostra as moleculas, mesmo chamando as bibliotecas do avogadro.
