cx-office stopped working after updating kernel [DAPPER]

I am using dapper, and after updating my kernel to2.6.15-15-386 #1 PREEMPT , the cx-office (http://www.codeweavers.com) stopped working with an error about cx-office " Unable to convert 'c:/' to a Unix path:"

doing an strace of various part of cx-office produces the following typical result:

root@lucien:~# strace /opt/cxoffice/bin/wine-preloader
execve("/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine-preloader", ["/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine-preloader"...], [/* 15 vars */]) = 0
+++ killed by SIGKILL +++

I forgot to add that the cx-office version is: 5.0.1

there is a demo package available that produces the same result. This package can be found at:
