I tried it with the Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 2 LiveCD:
uname -a: Linux ubuntu 2.6.28-3-generic #4-Ubuntu SMP Fri Dec 12 22:48:15 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
cat /proc/asound/cards: --- no soundcards ---
Output of lspci is the same
The output of "lspci -vvnn" is slightly different: http://martin-thoma.de/w/index.php?title=Testseite&diff=1701&oldid=1691

I tried to record something with the sound recorder, but as the soundcard isn't detected I couldn't test it realy ... but I think nothing had been recorded

Is the affected package perhaps alsa-driver?

Can you please attach the file that results from:

cat /proc/asound/cards > soundcards.txt

Automatic Sound Information Collection

This is the preferred method for gathering the appropriate sound information from your system. It's helps ensure that you gather the sound information correctly and completely. The following script gathers all required information in one go http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh . By default, the script uploads the information to alsa-project.org . This information can be used by ALSA developers to improve current support for some cards. If you do not wish your information to be uploaded, please use the --no-upload argument when running the script. The script was written to aid the alsa developers, and also to help the people in #alsa to sort out sound issues. Please download and run the script as follows:

   1.

       bash alsa-info.sh

   2. The script will generate a URL. Please add this URL to your bug report.
   3. If for some reason the script does not generate a URL, please use the --pastebin option (our original upload method)
   4. The alsa-info.sh script can either be run as 'bash alsa-info.sh' _or_ made executable and run as './alsa-info.sh'.

Please note that this symptom is not an alsa-lib one. You can set skype and audacity to bypass pulseaudio and use alsa directly.

I attached soundcards.txt

The external microphone doesn't work, too.

I have 8 possibilities to chose a mic in skype:
 * Default device (default)
 * HDA Intel (hw:Intel,0)
 * HDA Intel (plughw:Intel,0)
 * HDA Intel (hw:Intel,4)
 * HDA Intel (plughw:Intel,4)
 * hdmi
 * headset
 * pulse
none worked
