I uploaded a package to REVU for Jaunty, but it hasn't reached the repositorys before feature freeze.

You can try a freeze exception.
Look here. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess under "FeatureFreeze for new packages".

But there are no reasons why this package must be added to Jaunty and can not wait until Karmic.

The package is available on debian-multimedia.org. You should request a sync directly from there.
FYI, the package build OK without modification on a karmic pbuilder.

A newer version is available in revu. It needs sponsorship to be accepted for main.

this will only get sponsored for universe, but I can't remove -main-sponsors

Me too ;-) I added the -main- team by accident and now I can't remove it.
But I'm still looking for an universe sponsor.

Unsubscribed ubuntu-universe-sponsors, please use REVU to find a sponsor.

As a side note, you should base your work on the debian package already on debian-multimedia.org, and only if necessary, add modifications to fill Ubuntu needs. If no modification is needed, it's only a sync request, which should be faster that using REVU.

The package on Debian is nearly the same package as on REVU, because I worked together with Andrea Gasparini to make it ready for the repositories.
So, the Debian team was faster in including the package to the repositories...
The package I currently submitted to Launchpad is much better than the actual package on Debian: It splits SMILE into smile and smile-data packages and it provides an advanced fix for the translation-source problem.
How do I get a menthor for this? The instructions said I need to subscribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors to get a sponsor. I maintain packages in REVU which wait(ed) over half a year to get a sponsor. Should I simply wait if someone contacts me via e-mail? Please clearify this for me, because I have some other bugs I subscribed the team to to get my commits implemented.

You can request a sponsor by ubuntu-universe-sponsors only for packages already in Ubuntu repository, or to add a new package from Debian repository to Ubuntu repository. For a completely new package, you should find a sponsor with REVU, like you done. Unfortunately, there is not enough reviewer on REVU to look at all packages, so the delay could be very long. That's why I advice you to base your work on the Debian package.

If you think the changes are needed, please forward them to the Debian maintainer. In the mean time you can request a sync, or a merge from the debian package which include your changes. In this case (Sync or Merge), you can request sponsor from ubuntu-universe-sponsors.

See also https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess or https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging for more details.

But the package is in Debian-Multimedia because it uses mencoder and it is not in Debian. Does this matter?

It's OK as long as the package build ok on Karmic, and copyright stuff
is compatible with Ubuntu policy. For example, you should check if the
license in debian/copyright is correct with upstream, if there is a copy
of the license in the source tarball etc ... But if all is ok, a sync
with debian-multimedia.org is possible (several packages are already in
sync with this repository).
