2008-11-10 22:10:53 Peter description Powermanager was upgraded Mon Nov 10 and after that fan speed i running constantly. Did a BIOS upgrade to A13 on Sun Nov 9 on my DELL xps m1330 and fan was running really quite after that, but today Mon Nov 10 updates was released and it wrecked the fan speed again... $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 ~$ apt-cache policy powermanagement-interface powermanagement-interface: Installed: 0.3.18 Candidate: 0.3.18 Version table: *** 0.3.18 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ~$ apt-cache policy powermgmt-base powermgmt-base: Installed: 1.30 Candidate: 1.30 Version table: *** 1.30 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I think the problem goes back to the powermanagement as there was a new included in the update but I am not sure.
