Sorry for bad English.

In GNOME not play system sounds except for the sound of the event Login.

In doing so, in the dialog box, "Sound Preferences" sounds are played (with preview).

Replacing the "Default" sounds to their corresponding files (and their replacement by other audio files) has no effect.

I have embedded the sound card (it is determined (in utility "Sysinfo") as:

1. Intel Corporation 828011 (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

2. Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 2a6f ).

Yes, the Jef's solution doesn't help... I've changed system sounds with another sounds and to default sounds...

Hi unihorn,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 294975

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I regret. But the answer to a bug has come too late... :(

I use now 9.04, in which this problems was not present (except a sound quit, but it is already possible to suffer it (and it not only in Ubuntu...)).

Installations anew Ubuntu 8.10 in my schedules are not present.

Best regards.

I hope that Ubuntu 9.10 it will be tested enough, that such, visible at once at elementary testing (but, for some reason skipped in Ubuntu 8.10) errors were not.

Best regards.
