Bug Description

This usually happens when I open Firefox and I've noticed it most when visiting E-Bay pages. I've also had it happen while in my WINE program. I've recently downloaded it but it started freezing prior to downloading wine. There have been times that it has frozen when I have just started the system up. Started freezing around Oct 29 w/ all updates applied.
Computer: Toshiba Satellite A105 - S2194 w/ 1024 MB RAM and over 40 GB free HD space. I'm using a NETGEAR wireless card. Does anyone know why it would freeze up? I had just gotten my DVD and wireless working well when it started freezing.

can you please attach (as a file attachment) the outputs of "lspci -nn" and "dmesg"?
it would also help if you can run memtest86+ from the grub menu
thank you

you might also want to try disabling compiz visual effects and tell us if this fixes your problem...

It won't let me enable visual effects at all. Oh, by the way, I'm running the i386 version w/ a Celeron M chip. Here's dmessg like you asked.

I changed my driver for my wireless device to the netgear driver. That really didn't do anything. I then noticed my display driver was not active, so I activated it through Hardware drivers. It froze again on me on Oct 6.

zjammer, your machine might not be powerful enough for compiz special effects.
does this problem also exist with the visual effects disabled?
ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress 200M] [1002:5a62]

your network cards seem to be irrelevant to the problem
good luck
