Charlie Kravetz - I found a solution to the problem on a polish Ubuntu forum. He solved this way:

1. wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19200501/speedtch.ko.tar.bz2
2.tar -xzf speedtch.ko.tar.bz2
3.sudo cp speedtch.ko /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/atm

Looks like the speedtch.ko is corrupt.
