Bug Description

After doing a distro upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 I am the only one who can login. Any other user after entering their name and password the screen just goes blank, the mouse pointer still works as does "ctrl-alt-backspace". Delete the user and their /home entry from the command line and recreate it using adduser still has the same effect, same with the shut down/switch user icon in the panel.
