Bug Description

This is when installing the Kubuntu 8.10 64Bit version on a x_64 system. After selecting the language & timezone, the installer attempts to start the disk partitioning tool and soon reports a message claiming that my physical disk is large. Then I select 'OK' and it hangs forever. This also happens with the alternate installer.

This issue can be resolved by disconnecting my Ipod from the USB when installing.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging problems with the installer at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs

Could you follow these instructions and report here the logs ?
