Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please attach your X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report. Additionally, would it be possible for you to take a screenshot of your problem. Digital camera images of the screen are a great help as well. Finally, please attach the output of "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.

I'll attach the relevant log from that day, I've since corrected the faulty X condition by reconfiguring xorg as suggested in the xorg.conf file.

This bug report is a bit ambiguous. What does "unreadable" mean? Was it in a language you're unfamiliar with? Was the screen corrupted? or...?

The resolution was low and the text wasn't rendered correctly. It looks as if the DPI setting was wrong, i.e. the text was rendered too small to be readable. I'll be happy to answer any further questions.

without more info, I have no clue. guessing it's just another proprietary driver issue. --> fglrx-installer.

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

I actually can't test it on Jaunty/Karmic because the fglrx driver on Xorg 1.6 doesn't support the Radeon 9600...
