Bug Description

First of all, my 2 sata hhds work without SMART issues, this is my XP box and it runs smoothly.
I have never saw such a kind of error from ubuntu 5.04.
Live boot hangs after 6 7 minutes, I think I need some specific kernel boot option. Furthermore, sr0 is a strange sata device, there is something wrong...
here is the output:

My box: a64 x2 3800+, dfi nf4 ultra, 2gb ddr1, 7800gt, audio ac97, 2 hitachi sata2 hd.

Hi Flapane,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 291636

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm so sorry, unfortunately I changed my hardware just before going on holidays, and of course the problems doesn't happen now.
There should be (or there was) some sort of issue with that combination of hardware.

Thanks for the update Flapane. For now I'm going to go ahead and close this bug since you no longer able to reproduce due to the hw changes. If anyone else following along here has the same hw and is able to reproduce with the latest Karmic 9.10 Beta, please open a new bug. Thanks!
