Apt-zeroconf is an extension to apt which enables it to find other instances on the LAN in order to exchange debian package files and not to fetch them from the internet.

There's already an ITP in Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=456815

apt-zeroconf has already been packaged by upstream, so this merely needs repository inclusion:

There's also a forum topic discussing using apt-zeroconf by default: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=796883 I don't intend to make this bug report about that - just about getting apt-zeroconf in the repositories.
