The system is unacceptable slow, eg starting firefox takes between 50 and 90 seconds (on vista on the same machine 10 seconds), starting the first gnome-terminal takes around 20 seconds.
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 rc1 on a HP-Compaq 6715s
CPU: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series]
I asume that the problem is related to fglrx but I am not able to ensure that. Using top I can see that Xorg always consumes between 10 and 15 % CPU.
Beside that Linux always runs the fan with full speed, even if the temperature is below 25C. |
