ekiga can show the output of my webcam...even VLC can.

on opening cheese the light of webcam starts to glow...but the picture does not come.
it seems to be doing something because it does not quit easily. i have to force it to quit.h inspiron 1525 webcam
even opening it as root does not help.
i think cheese was working in live cd environment.

Camorama says "Could not connect to video device (/dv/video0) Please check connection".

The same is happening for my dell inspiron 1525 laptop. It was working good before I enabled the advanced graphics option in (system->preferences->appearance).
Help Please.
Thanks

I can confirm this too.

I also noticed that if i open Cheese and press on the Effects button, and then press it again Cheese will crash. A backtrace is attached.

I am unable to identify the hardware through either lspci, lshw or lsusb. In syslog i can see the following:

I opened xsane (without a scanner plugged in). The led next to the cam will flash, and xsane fails to start - it thinks my webcam is a scanner...

I guess we can blame uvcvideo (the driver) for our problems.
