Bug Description
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 beta, the volume 'device' is HDA Intel ( Alsa mixer), there appears to be no '+20DB Mic Boost' option under the edit/preferences panel, none of the other available audio devices under the 'Device' drop-down in the volume setting has a 'Mic Boost' setting.
The internal Microphone is capturing, but at such a low level, and with loads of background noise, it also appears that the recording balance between each microphone is not equal (they are a stereo pair, one either side of webcam), i have a feeling generally all stereo audio balances are not split equally (playback or recording) even when 'sliders' in the volume control are locked, this can be noticed when using headphone's.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
