Bug Description

Request for package xmlcopyeditor

There is already a package here: http://www.getdeb.net/release/3021

Project Homepage: http://xml-copy-editor.sourceforge.net/

License : GNU General Public License (GPL)

Why do we want that?
Because the only other XML editors (conglomerate and mlview) are very outdated (2005) and xmlcopy is still developed.

really useful application to work with XML. Here is my post how to install it for Ubuntu 8.10
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1809338&forum_id=475215 . But it will be nice to have it in Ubuntu repository

I'll bump this one! Works much better than the others in the Ubuntu repo that I've tried (Conglomerate, Screem and mlview).

If not in debain and not in ubuntu it will have to go through the REVU process either on m.d.n or REVU to ensure the package conforms to debian/ubuntu policy, have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Packages/REVU. You may want to consider reopening your wnpp bug in debian.

I've been using XML Copy Editor since 2007. I haven't found anything that comes close to it, especially regarding its handling of complex scripts like Khmer.

Bump for me - great idea to add it to Debian/Ubuntu. Anyone who's gone through the process want to take this one on? Well worth the effort.

Looks like we're just waiting for wxWidgets 2.8 to get into Ubuntu and then this can be packaged for Ubuntu as well, correct?

Now that it is in Debian, how hard is it to get it into Ubuntu? All the packages listed at http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/xmlcopyeditor appear to be available with 9.10. Is this likely to just be regular build, or is there more to it than that?
