Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-utils
If I try to format an external usb floppy drive I see the error "Cannot initialize device ... you do not have the proper permissions to write to /dev/floppy/0 or /dev/fd0 formatting will not be possible.....". In fact my usb floppy is mounted as /dev/sdb (I can see this from df command or from dmesg). I think this is a first bug.
Then I launch gfloppy with --device /dev/sdb but the error is similar.
If I try to write into the floppy all runs ok.
If I try to mkfs.msdos -I /dev/sdb from root (with sudo) the format process runs ok.
ls -la /dev/sdb
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 16 2008-10-14 12:34 /dev/sdb

thank you for your bug report, does running the command line tools not using sudo works correctly?
