Bug Description

I have a thrustmaster gamepad. I think it's a thrustmaster firestorm but I'm not certain of the exact type. It's a six button gamepad with no analog sticks.

In Intrepid, this gamepad is detected as a mouse. (If I press down, up, left, or right it moves the mouse cursor). If I press any of the action buttons, X restarts. Playing games with this gamepad is not possible. This gamepad worked fine in Hardy.

In fact, every gamepad I have tried does the same thing in Intrepid, so it's not limited to this particular controller. I was told in bug # 274203 to report this bug individually for each joystick that fails, however I think that's very silly as it is more important to fix this bug for all joysticks, not just the ones reported.

Regardless, attached is my lshal output.

Is it a serial device? The hal output doesn't seem to have it.

Nope, it's USB.

Per bug # 274203, the crashing part of this bug was fixed. No longer does any of the action keys crash X.

However, the D-Pad still controls the mouse cursor by default which shouldn't be. This makes the D-Pad controls not work in MAME. The only thing left for this bug to be closed is for the gamepad not to control the mouse cursor.

yes, it was silly to gather there, and it's no longer necessary. Lucid will not use evdev for joysticks, so plugging one in doesn't move the mouse cursor.
