Bug Description

I am trying to PXE boot a client with an Abit A-N78HD which utilises the GeForce 8200 chipset.

I have a host machine running mythbuntu and I have correctly followed the steps to install the ltsp server on it.

The client machine boots and loads the kernel over the network therefore I know all the hardware etc is working fine. Once it has booted the system tries to mount the home directory and the kernel halts as it cannot connect to the network. I am presented with "eth0: no link during initialization".

I have checked to see if there are any other ethernet devices (such as firewire) it could be getting confused with, there are not.

I booted a hardy live cd on the machine also and although that did not give me any errors in dmesg and it does have eth0 in ifconfig, but although it transmits packets it does not seem to want to receive any, and therefore does no obtain an address via DHCP. Re-loading forcedeth had no effect and neither ifup nor ifdown work, they report that the device does not exist.

I am running the latest version of mythbuntu and have only just created the ltsp image. I hope there is enough information for someone to help me, because I don't really want to have to install a PCI NIC with a riser card.

This issue is fixed in Intrepid (by waiting slightly long for the device to come up). There is a new bug with the SunRPC, but this has been started in a new thread.
