Description:
OpenMRS is an open source medical record system which is focused on developing countries. It is web based, written in Java, and is under active development. Most of the core developers are from the Regenstrief Institute and Partners in Health.

OpenMRS® is a community-developed, open-source, enterprise electronic medical record system framework. We've come together to specifically respond to those actively building and managing health systems in the developing world,

OpenMRS is a free, open-source program.
We currently have a commonly used plugin, which utilizes Microsoft's InfoPath program for data entry (and needless to say requires a license); otherwise, all of the resources needed are open source and freely available.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

There is an openmrs deb file available here: http://openmrs.org/wiki/Prereleases#OpenMRS_1.5.0_RC2

The source for the deb is here: http://dev.openmrs.org/browser/openmrs-contrib/install/packagemanagers/deb

Can we get that included in an ubuntu repository somewhere? Or should we wait until the final release of openmrs? It would be neet to have it in before Karmic, but OpenMRS 1.5 GA probably won't be out by then. Is it easier/quicker to update the repo to the GA if the RC is in there already?

Dear All:

Fyi we are currently submitting a Debian source package:
svn+ssh://<email address hidden>/svn/debian-med/trunk/packages/openmrs/trunk
through debian-med
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/

The package, as is, already builds and installs cleanly, in my brief testing, on Ubuntu.

I have found this guide:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/ForUbuntuDevelopers
about converting from Ubuntu -> Debian.

Any hints on going vice versa much appreciated, especially as to the technical details of getting the package into Ubuntu.

Thank you
Yours
Misha

Dear All:

I have created a PPA for the OpenMRS development team here:
https://launchpad.net/~openmrs/+archive/ppa

I am currently trying to upload the proposed Debian package modified to replace the target from unstable to maverick in the debian/changelog file and built using pbuilder on an Ubuntu 10.10 i386 RC VMware image.

I urge other OpenMRS developers to join this development team:
https://launchpad.net/~openmrs

Misha
