Bug Description

While trying out intrepid-alpha4 under kvm, I started the VM with a virtio disk:

~/qemu.pt/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -m 1024 -drive file=/guests/kubuntu-intrepid-alpha4-64.qcow2,if=virtio -cdrom ~/images/intrepid-desktop-amd64.iso -boot d

This creates partitions, but doesn't succeed in mounting them.

When I start it as a normal disk:

~/qemu.pt/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -m 1024 /guests/kubuntu-intrepid-alpha4-64.qcow2 -cdrom ~/images/intrepid-desktop-amd64.iso -boot d

the install progresses.

We've been fixing a number of problems related to this on and off for the last couple of release cycles. I tried it today and installation to a virtio device (as you describe) works fine, so I think we can call this done. If I add ",boot=on" to the -drive specification, it even boots successfully after installation. :-)

(My test was with jaunty, although I think 8.10 as released might stand a chance; still, it should be basically perfect with 9.04.)
