Removable devices gives DBus error

Bug Description

I can mount anything but when I do that this message appears:
DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.NotFound: The given volume was not found
And the disk is disk is mounted, but double mounted...

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

This visually nasty bug confirmed here with Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, kernel 2.6.26-4-generic, and Gnome 2.23.5. My Western Digital 120GB external USB harddrive pops up with two desktop icons and the above error - but is nevertheless acessible without any problems. Here the dmesg output:
