Description:
Theorur OS Video Streamer
( Keep an Eye out for this !! )

For streaming video (not just a webcam), then this is a seriously good option.

High and low resolution, and high and low frame rate capability.

Theorur is a GUI for Ogg/Theora video and audio streaming over an icecast2 system.
Streaming can be done live.

It uses
- gtk2, under GLPv2
- dvgrab
- ffmpeg2theora >= 0.17
- oggfwd >= 0.2

In the current version, theorur is fully functional for digital video streaming (IEEE1394).

Some remaining problems for V4L streaming should be fixed by using gstreamer in the 0.6 branch.

The current Ubuntu version is for i386 only.
Multimedia (Video) programs run well on AMD64.

1) It would be great to have this program available through synaptic repository sources.

2) It would be great to have it available in AMD64 version, and other more recent processors.

Ubuntu Packages from Author

Package of theorur 0.5.3 provided by nighto (source.list entry):
deb http://nighto.net/ gutsy/

Package of theorur 0.5.2 provided by die-go and magnus:
- http://xanta.milharal.org/~diego/theorur_0.5.2-1_i386.deb

Package of ffmpeg2theora 0.18:
- http://xanta.milharal.org/~diego/ffmpeg2theora_0.18-1_i386.deb

Advantages
1) Takes a feed from your ieee1394 DV port, or a DV channel/device on your DV network. You could feed analog video through the A/V input on a DV camera.
2) Uses IceCast servers, so you can send to an Icecast receiver, or to a hired IcesCast server hoster.
3) Taylor it to your upload bandwidth capacity.
4) Stream from your DV Camera, Firewire Sound Mixing desk (there a only a few applications that work with firewire mixers in linux), firewire dvd players.

Also, can backports be made for other currently supported versions of ubuntu?
