Bug Description

I am trying to upgrade my Ubuntu 8.04 32 Bit release running on a PC box to 8.10.

I run 'update-manager -d'

The window comes up showing version 8.10 is available, and it goes through 'Preparing for Upgrade', 'Setting Up new Software Channels', then comes up with can not calculate the upgrade. Please see screenshot.

Looking through main.log it seems to be something to do with the Nvidia graphics driver. Peter

Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please try the upgrade again? It should now deal correctly with the nvidia driver and select the right one automatically.

Many thanks. I managed to get the upgrade working in Alpha 3 but then got the issues I have highlighted in '252160'

Thanks

Thanks for this additional comment.

Could you please attach the logs from /var/log/dist-upgrade to this bugreport? It might be that the upgrader selected the wrong nvidia driver for you or something similar. I would like to check that.

Is there anyway of attaching multiple files in one batch. I am aware that zipping things up in frowned upon :-)

Thanks for the logs.

You used a version of the upgrader that didn't contain the nvidia selection code yet, I beliefe that this problem is fixed with the latest version of update-manager.

I hope so, have you tried installing the latest "jockey-gtk" and checked if that gives you good advice about what package needs t get installed? And the various nvidia drivers (nvidia-glx-173, nvidia-glx-96, ...)?
