Bug Description
The problem is that my kubuntu 8.04 can't take ip from dhcp, not even when i'm trying to give ip manually. Avahi is always running (both conditions) and gives an ip only for local network, so i don't have internet. The network card is recognized from kubuntu. My card is Realtek RTL8111/8168B. Also i saw at a forum that another person had exactly the same problem with me, with a Realtek RTL8169/8110 network card. We tried many solutions but nothing, the problem still continues.
Curious is the fact, that this problem don't exist at the previous distribution of kubuntu (7.10). When i log at kubuntu 8.04 with the kernel from Gutsy the problem doesn't exist. For that reason i believe we have a bug to face.
p.s Both of us(me and the other person), we use routers to connect at network.
I just want to confirm the bug on a dell vostro 1310 laptop.
Built in Ethernet: Realtek RTL8111/8168B
Running Kubuntu 8.04.1 with kernel 2.6.24-19-generic.
I notice that a fix will not be distributed as the issue is fixed in the next ubuntu release.
That is bad form!
What will i do for now, can anyone tell me please?
