Bug Description

ON Dell Latitude D820
Compiz Fusion enabled
nVidia Binary Driver

I first noticed this behavior when trying to change the desktop background. I opened up the manager, selected the Background tab, and clicked on a picture from my library of background photos. Nothing seemed to happen. The expected result would be that the wallpaper would change to the newly selected image.

Further investigation showed that when the dialogue is open, CPU usage is abnormally high.

Fixed by removing package gtk-qt-engine and rebooting

I have the same problem, but I don't have gtk-qt-engine installed.

I also had a fairly large update through the Hardy Proposed repo last night. Perhaps one of the updates fixed the issue? Is there any way to check on what updates have been recently installed?

I have all important and recommended updated installed for 'Ubuntu 8.04'. With that I don't believe they fixed it at this time.
