Bug Description

Binary package hint: pm-utils

Ubuntu version: 8.04 (clean installation, fully updated)
PM-Utils version: 0.99.2-3ubuntu9

I own a HP nx7400 laptop. When I suspend it to RAM everything seems to work as it should but on resuming the laptop hangs and doesn't work anymore. The monitor is pitch black (no backlight) and the keyboard is dead. I tried suspending either from the terminal and from GNOME but it doesn't work in both cases.

This is a regression because suspension worked until Ubuntu 7.10.

I tried with Arch Linux and it works perfectly. I guess the problem is PM-Utils: Ubuntu 8.04 uses version 0.99 and Arch linux uses version 1.1.0. The last version is available also on Debian repository; can you please update the package?

I have the same laptop which was upgraded from 7.10 within days of the 8.04 release. I have been able to suspend and resume successfully until about a week ago. I think it was just following one of the groups of updates last week. Here is the history from Synaptic Package Manager for 5/6, 5/9, 5/11 and 5/13.

Can you please try this package, and report if it's working better or even worse? Please attach your /var/log/pm-suspend.log

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 229234, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
