Thank you for the bug report. Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs, or upload (as an attachment) the crash report from /var/crash/.

Also, please answer these questions:
Is this crash reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

I cannot reproduce this on my hardy while running kde4 and firefox3 beta 5.

This crash is completely reproducible on my Machine. I just start firefox and type in the URL ubuntuguide
Then the whole X crashes.

I tried created a new profile for Firefox without all the plugins and it seems to crash with it as well. So i assume it is not a problem in a plugin.

flash: flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.124.0ubuntu2
Java: java-common 0.28ubuntu3

There is no crash report in /var/crash.

I tried to follow the instructions you gave me but there is no dbg package for firefox3. Where can i get one?

firefox: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :0.0.

So it seems X is a suspect

I got the following from the gdm logs

Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x7e) [0x80c780e]
1: [0xb7f43420]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

Further from the syslog i can see the following:
Apr 29 17:49:08 nikola-laptop kernel: [10925.014898] Xorg[25570]: segfault at 00009953 eip b6f3c86b esp bfa66a64 error 4
Apr 29 17:49:08 nikola-laptop gdm[25550]: WARNING: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0

What should i do ;)
