Bug Description

package name: eclipse-pydev-extensions

name: Pydev Extensions

url: http://www.fabioz.com/pydev/

description: Pydev Extensions is a plugin that allows Python editing in Eclipse. It works with Eclipse and the Pydev "Open Source" version

comments: needs to be packaged like eclipse-pydev and also has a dependency on eclipse-pydev. Also from the site: The Pydev Extensions version must always be accompanied by the same version of the Pydev "Open Source" version.

license: hmmm, http://www.fabioz.com/pydev/terms.html well see if it fits in some Ubuntu repository that is suitable.

The licensed part is only activated when entering a valid license, for the rest the original pydev part is available normally.

A old version already exist in intrepid branch, this package was located in universe components, it is correct ?
because we can't free change code without written permission from Fabio Zadrozny.

but in "Ubuntu "main" Component license Policy" we can read :
"Must allow modification and distribution of modified copies under the same license. Just having the source code does not convey the same freedom as having the right to change it. Without the ability to modify software, the Ubuntu community cannot support software, fix bugs, translate it, or improve it." (universe is same as main component , the difference is it is modified by community).

so, i'm agree with you, it's ambigous.

There is an error, there are two versions of pydev extensions.

- One version, as close source which is NOT a free software and we'll can find to this link http://www.fabioz.com/pydev.
  Actually, the terms of License of this package is not really compatible with Ubuntu Policy for main or universe components (just to restricted).

- However , i found a open-source version of pydev extension, which has exactly the same name and with website http://pydev.sourceforge.net/.
  It's the "Pydev open source version" named in the top of this report. Indeed it's this package that is integrated in universe branch.

So, the second is 100% agree and compatible with universe policy.

i'm sorry it was an error from me.
