Packaging was done at https://salsa.debian.org/go-team/packages/tiup/-/merge_requests/1 and initially uploaded to Debian NEW in October, 2025, but decided to upload now in parellel to Ubuntu too as the Debian NEW queue is processed by just one person and it takes months for packages to get through.

Note this packaging has been done fully from scratch and does not inherit anything from previous attempts visible in e.g. https://launchpad.net/~allenz/+archive/ubuntu/tidb or https://launchpad.net/~overvenus/+archive/ubuntu/tidb.

Test PPA (build with resolute-proposed) will have packages available at https://launchpad.net/~otto/+archive/ubuntu/tidb?field.series_filter=resolute as soon as #2136902 has synced.

The package contents in salsa looks good to me! I'm happy to sponsor.
According to the developer docs two MOTUs/core devs should sign off first (https://documentation.ubuntu.com/project/how-ubuntu-is-made/processes/new-packages/#going-through-motu) so I'll wait for a second review for now. Otherwise I'll make sure this gets uploaded a couple weeks before feature freeze

Thus closing this in Ubuntu now, and will focus on uploading everything only to Debian going forward as Ubuntu uploads are unlikely to be any faster nor have additional benefits.
