I got this with Thunderbird. I use a folder on windows for the profile (in order to share the profile between windows and Ubuntu). It was working before, and not anymore.

What version of Ubuntu are you using? Is this still an issue?

Still having this problem, using Ubuntu 8.04.
It happens only when I use a launcher on the desktop (with StartupNotify=true).
I created the following simple test file:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=False
Exec=firefox
Name=Firefox
Icon=gnome-panel-launcher
StartupNotify=true

Running it will shot "Opening 0 items" in the window switcher.

I also get this issue, only when launching programs from a desktop shortcut. It's not big deal, but I'd like to know what's causing it.
