Bug Description

name: iscan-plugin-gt-s600

description: Image Scan! plugin for the GT-S600 / GT-F650 / Perfection V10 / Perfection V100 PHOTO. This package adds support for the GT-S600, GT-F700, Perfection V10 and Perfection V100 PHOTO to Image Scan! (and sane and xsane)

url: http://push.cx/2007/epson-perfection-v100-in-ubuntu
also http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/scan/DL1.do
and http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/scan/DL2.do
convert rpm package to deb with alien command

comments: This Special license, needs extra consideration, no source code available. It contains drivers for scanners like http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl?manu=epson&model=v10&bus=any&v=&p=

See also package iscan but is not depending on it. This package can be used by either iscan or sane (and friends).

Can this please be fixed in Intrepid Ibex? This improves Ubuntu's image/promise of being up to date with commonly available consumer market hardware.

This item is not currently in Ubuntu nor Debian.
No comparable item in Ubuntu.
License appears to be okay for Multiverse.
Changing from 'New' to 'Confirmed'

I have an Epson Perfection 3170 on a 64 bit box, not currently working. Can test if someone is working on a way to make this scanner Ubuntu-compatible. iscan is supposed to work but that's only on 32 bit arch.

I have news, but it's kinda bad in a way. Check out https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/208405/comments/5 -- this is uglier than it appears at first sight.

Magnus, btw, there are now 64-bit packages for a few of the versions of iscan.

Please try to get http://www.avasys.jp to contribute to partner repository, like Skype is doing for easy of installation and proving a build at the moment a new version of Ubuntu is coming out.
